The Berney/Fly Bed and Breakfast is located in the historic Oakleigh Garden District, eleven blocks from the Convention Center, Carnival Cruise Terminal, and six city blocks from downtown Mobile, which has local cuisine, Mardi Gras Parades, History and Cultural Museums, Art Galleries, and 6,000 historic homes. Guests also come to experience Bellingrath Gardens and Home, USS Alabama Battleship, Sporting Events and golfing throughout the year.
The architect of the house included intricate woodwork on both outside with a wraparound porch, and inside with hardwood floors, staircase with banister, six fireplaces with half and full mantels, stained glass window, three gas chandliers, all from the original 1858 Cottage with two major additions in 1895 and 1900.
A 2004 renovation included upgrades in wiring of new electrical meters, new plumbing, refinished bathrooms, laundry room and commercial kitchen with fire suppression system for stove.
